Men’s Health Month: Take Charge of Your Health
June is Men’s Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the unique health challenges men face, and to encourage men of all ages to take proactive steps toward better health.

Why Men’s Health Matters
Men are often less likely to visit the doctor, talk about health concerns, or seek preventive care. But regular checkups and screenings can catch issues early—when they’re most treatable.

Five Essential Health Tips for Men:

Get Screened Regularly
Routine screenings can detect conditions like:

  • High blood pressure (starting at age 18)
  • Depression
  • Diabetes (especially if you have high blood pressure)
  • High cholesterol (starting at age 35, or earlier if you have risk factors)
  • Colon cancer (starting at age 45 or earlier with family history)
  • Hepatitis C (especially if born between 1945–1965 or have a history of drug use)

Even if you feel fine, screenings can reveal silent health issues before symptoms appear.

Talk About Mental Health

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Depression, anxiety, and stress affect men too, but often go unspoken. CHAS Health offers compassionate, confidential support to help you feel your best.

Stay Active
Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days. Whether it’s walking, biking, or playing basketball—movement boosts your heart health, mood, and energy.

Eat Smart
Fuel your body with whole foods: fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Limit processed foods, sugar, and excess salt. Need help? Our nutritionists can guide you.

Know Your Family History
If your father, brother, or grandfather had heart disease, diabetes, or cancer, you may be at higher risk. Share this information with your provider as it can shape your care plan.

Taking care of your health isn’t just about living longer, it’s about living better. Whether it’s your first checkup in years or just time for a routine screening.
