SBHC | School-Based Health Centers

School-Based Care for K-12 Students

CHAS Health's school-based health centers (SBHCs) are conveniently located inside select schools in our community and can serve any Spokane Public School or Mead School District Student. These facilities enable students and staff to receive integrated medical care, mental health, and other quality healthcare services.

SBHC patients are not required to establish care to utilize the clinics and may continue seeing their existing medical providers.

CHAS Health SBHCs are open year round, even when schools are closed!

About CHAS Health SBHCs

A bright, modern school‑based health center lobby features a colorful mural with mountains, a sun, and a cartoon character on one wall. Several chairs and small round tables form a waiting area. A reception counter with computer workstations sits to the right, and a hallway and exam room are visible beyond the lobby. A hand sanitizer dispenser and potted plant sit near the counter.

Linking Health & Education

SBHCs can deliver care to young people in our community who may not have access elsewhere. Healthy students are better learners. When students don’t feel well, it’s much harder to learn and pay attention in class.

Medical Services, Behavioral Health & More

CHAS Health can assist the school community in providing high-quality, safe, age-appropriate healthcare to students and staff where they already spend much of their day – at school. Having healthy kids and staff minimizes absences and promotes higher-quality learning in the classroom.

Confidential Services to Minors

We involve parents as much as possible. We coach students on how to talk to their parents and encourage them to do so. When engaging parents is not an option for students, we follow Washington State Minor Consent laws, which outline what services minors can get confidentially without parent/guardian consent, and at what age. Learn more about minor consent laws.

About our program

Health center services and appointments are available to all students at one of our School Based Health Centers. Our goal is to help students do better in school by working to address health concerns, prevent serious illness, and promote healthy lifestyles. Our health care teams can coordinate care with your child’s primary care provider and school to provide high quality, comprehensive care, with limited disruptions to class time.

Primary care appointments are 20 minutes and BH appointments are 30 minutes to ensure students are not removed from class for extended periods.

Where and when?

CHAS Health operates 5 physical locations in SPS and Mead schools, while supporting additional districts via Telehealth. Contact one of our SBHCs for more information.
