For many CHAS Health patients, dental care is more than cleanings and checkups—it’s a gateway to overall health, confidence, and quality of life. But when specialized oral surgery or prosthetics are needed, the cost can be overwhelming. Too often, patients delay or avoid treatment altogether, risking more serious health complications.
In early 2023, CHAS Health identified a troubling trend: a growing number of dental patients were unable to pursue necessary oral surgery due to financial barriers. These weren’t elective procedures, they were essential interventions that could prevent infection, restore function, and dramatically improve lives.
That’s when the CHAS Health Foundation stepped in.
With donor support, the Foundation launched the Advanced Oral Care Support Program, a patient assistance initiative designed to eliminate financial obstacles to specialty dental care. Whether it’s oral surgery, dentures, or endodontics, the program covers 100% of out-of-pocket costs for care outside the scope of CHAS Health Dental. For patients who must travel for treatment, the Foundation also provides lodging and transportation, ensuring that geography and income don’t stand in the way of healing.
Since its launch in July 2023, the program has helped more than 350 patients access the care they need, covering over $750,000 in dental treatment costs.
“Thanks to the Foundation’s support, many patients have received timely care for procedures that would have otherwise involved long, painful delays.” said CHAS Health Dental Director William Pedey, DMD. “I’ve heard directly from referring offices that patients are deeply grateful for the relief and compassion they’ve experienced. Our team has worked hard to streamline the process, ensuring it’s effective from start to finish—and it’s truly been a privilege to contribute to something so meaningful for our patients.”
The impact is clear. Patients who once lived with pain, infection, or missing teeth are now receiving the care they deserve without the burden of cost. And for many, it’s the first time they’ve felt truly seen and supported in their healthcare journey.
