That’s why the CHAS Health Foundation created the Employee Emergency Fund, a resource that provides financial relief to staff members navigating unexpected hardships like medical expenses, housing insecurity, or sudden loss of income.
And thanks to a generous new partnership, that fund just got stronger.
In spring 2025, Gesa Credit Union stepped forward with a powerful gesture of support: a three-year, $75,000 commitment to the Employee Emergency Fund as part of their “Local Healthcare Heroes” initiative. The first $25,000 has already been received, with additional contributions to follow through 2027.
“We are grateful for our partnership with Gesa and their commitment to supporting local healthcare heroes,” said CHAS Health Foundation Director Kasey Webster. “Gesa’s generous support strengthens our ability to assist CHAS Health staff facing unexpected financial hardships, ensuring they can continue caring for our patients.”
But Gesa’s support goes beyond dollars. The credit union is also investing in employee appreciation events and financial wellness resources, helping CHAS Health staff build confidence and stability in their personal lives.
“Healthcare workers are often the first to show up for others, even when they’re going through difficult times themselves,” said Amber Merrill, community relations manager at Gesa Credit Union. “This partnership is about making sure they have someone in their corner, too.”
