Insider Perspective

We are looking for all kinds of people in all kinds of roles. We understand that not one size fits all in healthcare – we focus on having a diverse staff who can bring fresh perspective, with a unique background, and skill set.  Our goal is to hire the best and support them not only in their careers but in their personal endeavors as well. We believe in the mantra work hard, play hard. Don’t just take our word for it, check out a few of our incredible employees below.

Meet Erica Baty - Registered Dietitian/Chef Extraordinaire/Exercise Enthusiast

My favorite things to do outside of work are actually what I talk about at work all day long- cooking delicious food and exercising!

I live for trying unique foods, creating new recipes and gathering people around my table to enjoy a meal. I enjoy planning menus and throwing fun dinner parties. I share all my recipes and eats on Instagram (@itsaflavorfullife) and am working on starting a blog.

I am encouraged to incorporate my life passions into my day to day work here at CHAS. When I suggested that I teach a cooking class for patients, I was cheered on by my supervisor and colleagues. Now my monthly cooking class has 20-30 patients attend to learn new recipes, try something they never have before and be inspired to create food that is just as delicious as it is nutritious.

What is the most meaningful part of your job?
The opportunity to educate, inspire and encourage others to make positive lifestyle changes is the most meaningful part of what I do here at CHAS. The best part of my day is when I hear patients’ enthusiastic success stories. I get obnoxiously excited about the smallest victories like if a person tries spaghetti squash for the first time or gets his/her kids to eat a new healthy recipe or decides to try out water aerobics!

What makes you proud to work for CHAS Health?

I appreciate that we take the time to truly listen to patients’ concerns and take the most appropriate actions to help that patient. I feel very blessed to work at CHAS. I am proud of what we do, who we serve and the opportunity we get to spread the message of great health, yummy eats and joyful movement!

Meet Paul Patton - Business Analyst/Literal Rock Star/Family Man

Outside of work I love spending time with my family and making music. I love working at an organization that is always willing to try something new and innovative. Creativity is something that is celebrated at CHAS Health, and is used to improve the lives of our patients. CHAS is extremely generous in the way they invest in their employees, and I am personally grateful for all of the skills and knowledge that I have gained while on the job. To put it short, I love being able to make a difference while being creative and expanding my professional skillset. Most importantly, I have ALWAYS been able to put my family first while working here.

Do you feel that the organization supports a good work/life balance?

Absolutely, it’s one of the best things about working at CHAS. I have never missed a birthday party, school program, anniversary, vacation, performance, anything. CHAS always supports my life in and out of work, and actively provides me the opportunity to make the best of both worlds. This organization is also open to bridging that work/life gap. In fact, in 2017 CHAS had me make a retro style hip-hop song for our diabetes initiative. We even got our Chief Medical Officer and Director of Quality Improvement involved. An organization with a CMO that is willing to spit some fire on a track has to be pretty sweet, right?

What is the most meaningful part of your job?

What is most meaningful to me is the fact that we offer top-notch care to some of our most underserved population. Any person who walks through the door at a CHAS clinic comes into an updated building, with top of the line supplies and technology, and sees people who genuinely care about them and the folks around them. At CHAS, we come in every day and live up to the opportunity to be a voice for the voiceless, a hand for the lonely, and an advocate for the forgotten.
